I have been involved with photography for many years and my first camera was a Minolta, fully manual. How things have changed since then. I made the switch to digital in early 2002, starting with scanned prints. Then came my first digital camera that I used along with my film cameras. It wasn't long before I converted to fully digital equipment and I haven't looked back. For my processing I use Photoshop CS3 and a cool little program called Neat Image that does a remarkable job at cleaning up digital noise, a common result from using high ISO and also the resulting noise caused from correcting underexposed shots.

Living on Canada's East Coast provides me with ample opportunity for excellent photographs and it seems that I never run out of interesting shooting locations. The people are among the most friendly in North America and if you have never been down this way, you owe it to yourself to visit The Maritimes for a terrific vacation! For all you birders out there, this area ranks among NB's finest birding hotspots. The best times for birds are during the spring migration right up to mid-June for warblers and mid-august until mid-October for the fall migration.

A Tamron 1.4 tele extender was used quite frequently as well as a tripod. Finally, most of them were shot during the spring and fall migrations.

Riley Brook NB & Oher Deer Shots. : Saturday, February 11/06, I met up with Grand Falls Photographer, Brian Morin. He was gracious enough to bring me on a shoot and his hot spot was Riley Brook, NB. Believe it or not, we counted sixty-four deer! Needless to say, we had a lot of fun and walked away with some beautiful deer photographps, but man, was it ever cold! Thanks Brian, I owe you one.

Dalhousie's Progress.. Land Abuse : PART ! A friend and I discovered this area late last summer. We were astounded at the numbers of Shorebirds & Ducks that were found there. Sunday, April 1 we went to see and found the whole area filled in with mud and covered with fill. Once again, a prime bird habitat has been ruined. They call it PROGRESS !

Tests : The frist seven photos were all shot with a Canon 400mm f5.6 lens and a Tamron 1.4 Converter. The aperture was at f5.6 and shutter spped anywhere from 1/1000 to 1/2000 second. The original images were sized to 5x7 @ 200dpi. Then they were cropped to 50 to 100%. Results were completely satisfactory. Good overall sharpness and lots of detail.
